LATITUDES
Latitudes is a series of three short films that traverse movement, music, and visual art to explore lived experience in Western Sydney - a region often underrepresented within Australia’s cultural canon. Commissioned by Powerhouse Museum, the project brought together nine original artistic commissions by emerging and established Western Sydney artists, performers, and writers. Each work responds to specific geographies, themes drawn from the museum’s collection, and shared conditions of place, history, and identity.

The films premiered as part of Sydney Festival 2023 and were subsequently released digitally on NOWNESS to a global audience. The project has since been featured across leading creative platforms includes Director’s Library and continues to screen within international festival contexts.
Comprising Sometimes to One Hundred, 151ºE, and Window, Latitudes reflects a deeply collaborative curatorial and production approach spanning multiple disciplines. Concept, creative direction, artist curation, and film direction were led by VERSUS, with production by Subversus, positioning the project as both a cultural platform and a model for artist-led commissioning at scale.
